Elon Musk, the renowned tech mogul, once again voiced his support for the right to bear arms, emphasizing the importance of an armed citizenry in safeguarding democracy. Responding to a discussion on recent events in the US that might lead individuals to consider firearm ownership, Elon Musk stated, “As tragic as the mass shootings are, armed citizens are essential to the defense of democracy.”
This is not the first time Musk has publicly advocated for the Second Amendment. In May 2022, he strongly expressed his belief in the right to bear arms as a crucial protection against potential government tyranny. Musk pointed out that leaders in history who denied public gun ownership sought to maintain their power over the people.
His comments came in the aftermath of a tragic mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. While Elon Musk acknowledged the need for stricter background checks, he maintained that the Second Amendment remains essential.
Elon Musk also criticized the media for playing into the desires of mass murderers, who seek attention through their actions. He questioned why the media follows this pattern.
Additionally, Musk shared a meme on Twitter earlier this year that appeared to support the Second Amendment. The meme humorously contrasted the First Amendment, which allows the sharing of memes with friends, with the Second Amendment, suggesting it’s for protecting this freedom.
Notably, Musk posted a photo of a bedside table featuring two non-firing guns in the past, as reported by the New York Post. While his support for the right to bear arms is clear, it’s important to underline that these guns were non-functional.
